Stoped working after a few months

It was great I loved the ice but 4 months later the ice machine stoped working it kept asking for more water when the tank and the reservoir were full and it also kept making a loud noise. A few days later I went to the store and i saw a person returning the exact same ice machine and they came across the same problems as my self and they also had only had it a few months. This product had a lot of potential however it just didn't exceed its expectations. Ice was amazing while it lasted!

Absolutely LOVE this ice machine!! Perfect nugget ice! I've hear people say it can be noisy, but not nearly as much as my ice crunching. I would definitely recommend this machine.

We were so excited to get our Opal! It was a surprise for my husband and he was thrilled! One year into owning it along with regular cleaning as required mold appeared all in the tubing and bin. I reached out to GE and they offered a repair for almost as much as a new Opal. Not only will I never buy this again I will avoid all other GE appliances unless it's my only option. We love this ice maker. This is a replacement for our first one. We scheduled repair of the original through the app. When the repairman called to verify the appointment, he indicated they don't have replacement parts or service these ice makers. We would need to buy a new one. We tried to repair the original and completely broke it. I think maintaining it better (regular cleaning, periodically using vinegar/water mix to battle scale, etc) will make it last longer.

We have only had the ice maker for just over 2 months and we love it!!! It makes the soft chewy ice!!! Works like a champ we did add the side tank to keep up with the amount of ice we use and we added the inline water filter as some have suggested. We love it!!!

I own the first Opal nugget machine, works great but started to have a few issues. I now own the Opal 2 and it is 10 times better. This nugget machine makes more ice than I could ever use in a day. I highly recommend this nugget ice machine. If you are on the fence about the first or second generation, def go with the second, Opal 2 for the win!

My machine leaks water all over our counter. In order to repair am required to pay shipping cost for new machine which would be approximately $200-$300 dollars when I've already spent $529.99 on this product. Horribly expensive for a machine I already paid such a pretty penny for only to have the item malfunction 3 months into being used.

awesome machine; very fast, full bin w/in 1 night of its purchase and ready to go the next day; there is some heavy sound emitted while making ice BUT if you place the Opal against a wall on one of the sides it will null the noise!

It's what I have wanted for along time. My dentist will love it too. I am an ice eater and so much easier on my teeth. My husband loves that I'm not making so much noise breaking chunks of ice all the time with my teeth. If you like to eat ice this is your machine. It makes ice fast so you always have plenty. I am not anemic I just love to eat ice.

I love this product!!! I was buying nugget ice prior to my husband gifting me this for Christmas! Now I can have perfect nugget ice anytime I want! It's easy to use, not very loud and makes ice pretty quickly. I would recommend this product to anyone who loves nugget ice!

The ice is great while it works. I've followed the care instructions to a T but our model quit working after moderate use for about 10 months. My family now owns 4 of these and mine is the only one that quit.

It has a slight hum that if I lean something up against the side panel it stops and I wish I could hook a water line to it but all in all we love it and so do our guests.

When my wife was pregnant with my kids, she craved ice that she could crunch. We would search gas stations, to this day, so she crunch ice. I got her this for Christmas. So far, so good. Since Christmas, we have eaten nugget ice everyday. Like any refrigeration unit, it will hum a little, but the subsides when the ice is done. The aspect that we can control it over our wife through the app also allows for the convenience of only having it on when needed or when we are on our way home. Simple design, easy filling, and easy wifi setup.

My wife and I had the original Opal from before GE took over. It was great but started to suffer from electrical issues. This new one blows the old one out of the water. Way faster, quieter, and even better to look at.

We love this ice machine! This is our second one. Unfortunately, the pump went out on the last one which we used every day for almost 3 years. Overall, you can't beat this machine even though it's a little pricey...it's worth every penny!

I just received an email back saving they would not post my original review because it's supposedly talked about price however the facts you remains the same the op opal icemaker is garbage the customer service from GE first bill and opal is garbage. The unit breaks down and they know these units are defective and they don't last long so what they do is within the warranty. They'll supply you with a refurbished unit and you never know when you're going to receive that so if they refuse to print this review it doesn't matter cause I'm just gonna go ahead and it's already on social media anyway and it does reference that. And although the company knows about my bad review about the Opal ice maker, no one has even bothered to call me to discuss my issues and that just goes to show how bad this company is!

We love the product but after a few months, ours did stop working. Due to the shipping issues for ALL companies, the replacement part took a long time to get to the company (the one required to prepare our replacement). The company sent out the replacement crazy fast once they had the necessary component. 5 stars because it is a great machine and the company was very fast to make good on the warranty. As far as retailers and their guarantees, that's a different story. Make sure you register your product with the manufacturer.

This is a terrible machine and WILL break eventually probably after the warranty runs out. I started a ticket long ago with the same issue that eventually required two more tickets. I walked through the support teams fixes to no avail to be told my warranty was no longer good AND IF i send them $250 they will send me a box to pack up my machine and send to them for repair (up to 4 weeks) and IF they could not repair it they would "refund me $125.00 and get rid of the machine. TERRIBLE service. My daughter has one that is newer and starting to act up on her - research this carefully and I think you will find it is overpriced and under engineered.

As I love the ice it makes but it doesn't make it consistently. I'm not sure it's it is the side tank or what but I have to completely take off the line and clean it out each week for it to make maybe one or two full bins if ice. When I spend this kind of money on something I want it to work properly. I don't mind cleaning it every month like it says but every week is a lot and for a busy person like myself. it's nearly impossible... I just want it to work properly
